Please do what you love. I’m not saying you need to do it for a living, though it is quite fortunate if you do. I’m saying you only have to do it for a few minutes per day, at least. There’s a reason you love to do whatever it is you love to do.
Anything that reminds you of yourself, of who you truly are, will bring you joy. It could be a song, a person, a place, a smell, even a memory. We hear a song from our childhood, and maybe we haven’t heard it in a long time, and it’s like a time machine – we go back in time spiritually to when we were more free, more ourselves. It’s this essence of yourself that years of stress and indecision have caused you to forget – and maybe a song comes on the radio that reminds you it’s still there. It’s not locked in the song – and it’s not locked in the past, which is only in your mind anyway. You have it – and the song just reminded you it’s there.
I encourage you to go home again. No need travel anywhere, no need to surround yourself with certain people – although it might help. Home is where the heart is. This isn’t just a cliche – it’s a spiritual truth. It literally means that home is within your heart, the same heart that’s just below your head. You have access to it.
And this is why I want all people to do what they love. When you do what you love, you open your heart a little bit more. When you’re doing what you love, you’re doing what you were meant to do. From this place, you can do what you’re doing and give what you’re giving endlessly. It is quite literally your abundance, and when you learn to give it away, abundance will come back to you.
I can tell you that in the last four months, I’ve learned the secret of time travel. I’ve learned to how to go home again – I began to write. It turns out, once I thought about it, that I’ve been writing all my life and have a natural talent for it. It’s my vehicle of expression. Four months ago, I decided to start writing for others – creative writing and now articles like this. And I’m home again. I feel more like myself than ever, and more connected with others than ever. I honestly can’t recall feeling this way since I was a child when expression came naturally. It’s a beautiful thing.
And I’d like everyone to find their own beautiful thing. So I ask you to do what you love, even if it’s just a little bit each day. Enjoy
